Questions for my readers

entertainment - 80%
usefulness - 10%
interaction - 10%

in websites like perezhilton.com or vh1, I really don't give a crap about interaction, and find other people's comments annoying. Although they're sometimes amusing.

p.s, I will never look at (I) again...

I read blogs just for the heck of it, I don't care if they're useful or not as long as the person behind the screen keeps me reading and/or laughing, and that person happens to be a "normal" human being [or non-human, in your case] that's able to communicate with other people.
I'm pretty well split between interaction and entertainment. Usefulness doesn't really play into it. I have the entire web to get useful stuff from. Maybe a fractional percentage at best. Of the entertainment, I'll read certain people for their unique take on life and the way they spin their words. Others, I can feel from several visits to their place that they are genuine people, good people, who are just reaching out to others out there who have similar interests or tendencies. The nutjobbers who are just here to spew hatred and miscontent are fortunately very few.

This is such an interesting question. I would have used totally different categories but.....

Entertainment: 30%

Usefulness: 30%

Interaction: 40%

Here's the thing, to me all of the above is irrelevant without interaction. Almost no blog is good enough for me to visit if the author does not at least respond to my comments once in a while. If they never even once visit my blog, it's usually over, although one or two bloggers have managed to be so compelling that I haven't given a rat's behind that they don't reciprocate.

I find that blogs where the author visits others are the most popular. I have a handful (maybe 9 or so) neighbors who have been my consistent friends since I began the blog 2 years ago. Now that I'm terribly busy, they take priority although I really wish I could visit my new neighbors more.

Having said that, my favorite blogs are the ones with variety, good writing and intelligence. Most of the "Entertainment" I love and expect comes in the form of humor from the author, not Lolcats (which has the tendency to make me nauseous).

....Is there a punishment on your planet for being a blabbering jabbermouth? I hope not, sorry I'm going on again.

I find that there are certain posts that have a "je ne sais quoi" a mix of several things - variety, a musing, a few photos and something personal that also relates to literature or an old news story that most people have not heard of.

I'm always surprised at what posts get flooded with responses or which ones just have that spark. I really think it's hard to compartmentalize.

Ah am shocked missy, sho-o-ked ah tell ya. Ya do not have a powerful inner wish in your body-soul to inter-react with tha likes of Paris Hilton an, an, all dem actors like?

PS: Luckily you have one available all the time so no need to look elsewhere for (I) ... :)
Interesting. I also like the ones with as higher level of interaction....you cool neighbour you...
I suppose interaction is really just a specialised form of entertainment...
Actually yes, there is a punishment....if you're a pretty female you get bent over the knee and spanked...if you're male you are taken outside and shot. Especially if I have to work with you.
NOOOOO! Not PARIS Hilton, PEREZ Hilton, the Cuban American flaming gay boy gossip columnist!
Darling I can read. Despite the redneck accent and all. Are you trying ta tell me Perez Hilton doesn't write about Paris Hilton???

Don't go forgetting you are not dealing with your average pea-brained hominid here missy ! :) :)
oh okay, I thought you'd really been living under a rock or something. A few years ago, when I didn't know who Perez Hilton was, my twin sister (who was working for a magazine at the time) told me she went to a dinner with Perez Hilton, and I said (in complete seriousness), "he should change his name, it sounds just like Paris Hilton." She couldn't stop laughing. At me.
No, no, the lies about Martians living underground are just negative Earthling Propaganda....we actually prefer multi-level sprawling castle/mansions....

60% entertainment

10% usefulness

10% interaction

Well, peple don't necessarily watch Oprah for the Entertainment... Or Jerry Springer for the interaction for that matter, at least interaction with him. Now between his guests, that's a whole other matter....
...especially if they are cousins....
...and -20% if it has math in it? :)
hmmmn, I guess:

E - 80%
U - 5%
I - 15%

If someone can keep me laughing/entertained I'll be back.

Not usefullness - thats what google is for. Mainly interaction for me. I only started the blog because my family and friends are spread all over the world and Australia so it was easier this way than sending out a hundred emails all the time. Thats why a lot of my stuff is family stuff. Although one thing I do like about vox is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of mummy/mumsy blogs here. Or I haven't found them. Even though I do write about my kids, I'm not interested in other peoples. So anyway, once you start blogging you meet people and some of them are interesting so then you get interested in seeing what they're up to and yadda yadda yadda. And thats why I don't have a neighbourhood that goes on for endless pages because I only keep people in it who I think I might actually like in the real world. Actually it needs a clean out at the moment. Oh, and I do like looking at people photos. But entertainment, hmmm - I don't find many people entertaining, more interesting.

And I don't think that answers your question.

Entertainment 60-70%, usefulness 10%, interaction 30%, maybe 20% depending on how entertaining it is.
he got punched in the face by will.i.am or someone related to him... :O !!!
Interaction can be good if it goes beyond this level:

I am commenting on your blog because I want you to read my blog

Thank you for commenting on my blog

Thank you for thanking me and I'm just saying thanks again so that you'll pity me a bit and read my blog

The majority of the usefulness is incidental - like hearing about restaurants/clubs/pubs people have been to - music to listen to, TV shows to watch, places to visit etc. But mainly I read other people's blogs because I'm nosey.

Wow, I think that comment made me both laugh and get nauseous at the same time...interesting! See, now THAT is a skill I could use...make people puke and think they like it....
Seems most of us are after the entertainment really...in a way interaction is also entertainment to some degree

E - 30%

What you can gather from this is that I am a very humorless, self-centered, lonely person.

Yes I'm bad at math but don't judge okay. Let's just say I come for the great witty stories, and I stay for the fact that you're an awesome very cool guy to have a conversation with. The information, is a pleasant side effect... perhaps I'm under-valuing it some, but it's the package it's presented in that hooked me first.
yeah, and the we could sell it back to them. We're gonna be rich, baby!
It'd be a 50/50 split between entertainment and interaction for me. I like talkign to people because 9 times out of ten I'm at work and I'm bored. Entertainment is always good. A little bit of insanity is a bonus too, sensible people don't tend to be that exciting....
Actually I kind of got that from your blog... Go out and join an activity group. Be it a Gym, a dance class, a reading book club....but I suggest a place where members of the opposite (or favourite) sex hang out in numbers.
Awww... now I'm blushing! -- Handshake with side-headbutt to you (it's the way Russians men greet each other, it's more comfortable than flimsy man-hugs)
Hahahahahah I think I'm falling in love with your mind :)
yeah... as a friend of mine said..."work is a 4 letter word after all.."

Really? Oh, it's not that bad.

But I am willing to forgive a Martian in a foreign land - and your blog does fall within that 30%.

50/50 entertainment and usefulness.is what brings you to any blog, then the choice is to interact or not
